When: original arrival in Canaan (1900 BCE), slaves in Egypt (13th century BCE), Exodus from Egypt (1250 BCE), early portions of Bible recorded (950 BCE), height of Hebrew Kingdom (961-922 BCE), Northern Kingdom falls (722 BCE), Southern Kingdom falls (597 BCE loss of independence, 586 BCE sacking of Jerusalem)

Where: southern Levant between Sinai Peninsula and modern Lebanon and Syria

Significance: gave the world monotheism; had unique set of laws, had apocalypticism, created a central religious text (Hebrew Bible/Old Testament)
