Had little domestic start from the beginning; there was an economic crisis due to war and reparation payments; In 1923 and 1924 there was hyperinflation. On 11-8-23 the French occupied the Ruhr and the National Socialist Beer Hall Putsch led by Hitler failed. Hitler is placed in jail. Between 1924 and 1929 there were years of stability, economic prosperity, and restored standing abroad. The great depression caused unemployment for 6 million people. Problems in the republic were partly responsible for Hitler’s rise to power and the beginning of the Third Reich.
